Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
